We are delighted to invite you to a seminar on the UK Bribery Act 2010. The new offences created by the Act, which can affect businesses operating anywhere in the world if they have a relevant UK connection, will come into force in April 2011.
Omar Qureshi, an anticorruption specialist and partner from our London office will lead the presentation together with our UK lifesciences expert and Head of Regulatory, Shuna Mason. In addition Agnieszka Deeg, Head of CEE Lifesciences, will share some observations regarding the Polish market. During the seminar we will provide practical guidance on the new law and its consequences (including the steps businesses can and should take now to minimise the risk of liability under the corporate offence) from the perspective of Polish lawyers and managers from the pharmaceutical sector.
Issues that will be discussed:
- The existing law and impetus for change.
- The offences under the new Act - general offences, discrete offence of bribing a non-UK public official, corporate offence.
- Problems with the new Act.
- The defence of "adequate procedures" and what companies can do to be able to rely on the defence.
- Examples (scenarios).
If you would like to attend, please RSVP before 30 July.
