Sean is Head of Corporate Finance at CMS Cameron McKenna LLP and is recommended in the Chambers Global and Legal 500 directories as a leading UK corporate lawyer. He is also Chairman of TT electronics plc (appointed in May 2010) and was a non-executive director of Informa Group plc from 2000 to 2009. He has extensive experience in all areas of corporate finance, including mergers and acquisitions, corporate reconstructions, public takeovers, Stock Exchange flotations and capital raisings and is the relationship partner to some of the firm's largest corporate clients, including Enterprise Inns plc, National Grid plc and Hunting plc and has also advised a number of investment banks including HSBC, DC Advisory Partners and Hawkpoint.
Relevant experience includes advising:
- National Grid, lead partner on the re-structuring of Great Britain’s gas distribution industry and the auction and sale of four of National Grid’s gas distribution networks for £5.9 billion, the £14.8 billion recommended merger with Lattice Group, the US$3 billion acquisition of Niagara Mohawk Holdings; and the £6.6 billion listing by way of new holding company for the National Grid group
- Informa Group on the £1.1bn merger with Taylor & Francis Group, the US$1.4 billion acquisition of IIR and the rights issue to finance the acquisition, and the recommended £502 million takeover of Datamonitor
- Enterprise Inns on the £2.3 billion acquisition of the Unique and Voyager pub estates from Nomura, the £609 million acquisition of the remaining share capital of The Unique Pub Company, and the disposal of a significant number of pub estates
- Hunting plc on a number of acquisitions and disposals including the disposal of Gibson Energy for CAN$1.2 billion
- A leading Russian businessman on the acquisition of the remaining 50% of MDM Bank, a major Russian retail bank, for in excess of US$1.5bn, the disposal of a 50% stake in EuroChem, the major Russian agrochemicals group, for in excess of US$1 billion and the shareholder restructuring of SUEK, Russia's largest coal mining company
