| In Russia, December was by far the most eventful month of 2011. United Russia's poor showing in the December 4th parliamentary elections and the street demonstrations that followed undoubtedly sent a jolt to the leadership. Although Putin's election in March 2012 seems assured and we do not foresee a "Russian Spring", some of the complacency of the Putin/Medvedev administration may disappear from Russian politics, at least for a while. Russia in 2012: Forces for Change gives a personal view of the year's principal events, as contributed by a number of our colleagues from CMS, Moscow. The Review is now in its third edition.
