Penelope Warne heads the Oil & Gas group at CMS, is Practice Group Manager for the Energy, Projects and Construction Group and is a member of the firm’s Board.
She advises on a broad range of oil and gas law and commercial work relating to the oil industry. She is an Honorary Fellow and Trustee of the Centre for Energy, Petroleum and Mineral Law and Policy at Dundee University and a Board member of IMD in Lausanne, Switzerland. Penelope set up the firm’s Aberdeen office in 1993 and divides her time between London and Aberdeen offices. She writes a monthly Energy column for the Press and Journal Aberdeen newspaper.
Penelope's practice spans the globe, having advised the oil & gas industry in jurisdictions such as the North Sea, US, Norway, Angola and Russia. With a client base spanning the whole oil & gas value chain, Penelope offers her clients, and the industry more widely, a thorough understanding of the entire sector and the key commercial issues. She also played an integral role in the development of many of the North Sea industry standard documents, which are now being used world wide.
Education:
Bristol University. Dually qualified in English and Scots law.
