Oleksandr Molotai is a Senior Associate in our Kyiv office.
Prior to joining CMS Cameron McKenna, Oleksandr headed Intellectual Property Department at Khortytsya, Ukraine’s major producer of alcoholic beverages. He has over seven years of practice in various aspects of intellectual property and unfair competition law.
Oleksandr’s experience embraces a range of issues related to intellectual property subject matter, such as drawing up and deploying of IP protection strategies for various types of businesses, IP portfolio management, structuring of transactions that involve IP assets (transfer and licensing of technology and goodwill), suppression of unfair business practices and litigation of IP-related disputes.
He has been advising clients that represent broadest variety of business sectors, including financial institutions, media and advertising companies, manufacturers of consumer products, accommodation, leisure and entertainment facilities, lifesciences and oil and gas.

- Advising Ukrainian branch of a major Russian oil and gas company on various IP-related issues that arouse out of re-branding of refuelling stations and related marketing campaign of the company.
- Conducting audit of IP portfolio, development and deployment of brand protection strategy for Ukraine’s major producer of alcoholic beverages.
- A well-known Ukrainian producer of hair cosmetics in matters related to obtaining international protection of the company’s key brands outside of Ukraine
- A major Ukrainian chain of luxury restaurants with continuous advice and support related to protection, licensing and enforcement of IP rights
- One of Ukraine’s top ten retail banks on issues, related with the bank’s new marketing policy and re-branding.

- On an IP audit at a Ukrainian media company operating a TV channel, a newspaper and online media driven by recent acquisition and upcoming corporate restructure of the company

- Ukraine’s major producer of alcoholic beverages before the Antimonopoly Committee of Ukraine in a number of unfair competition matters related to abuse use of intellectual property rights, unfair advertising and other unfair business practices
- Ukraine’s major producer of alcoholic beverages before the Antimonopoly Commission of the Republic of Armenia in an unfair competition matter that involved infringement of such manufacturer’s complex of IP rights, such as trademark, design, copyright
