Nicholas Stretch is a partner in the tax team, specialising in employee incentives.
He advises both quoted and unquoted companies on arrangements for their employees to participate in company equity, taking into account the company law, tax and employment law issues, as well as related corporate governance aspects. In addition, he advises clients on cash incentive arrangements and employee trust issues.
He is the author of the Employee Issues chapter in Butterworths 'Takeovers: Law and Practice' and has written numerous articles and seminars on this area, including regularly leading a transaction workshop at the annual IBC share scheme conference. Nicholas writes frequently for PLC magazine and its employee share scheme website, he is a member of its consultative board and is chairman of the Quoted Companies Alliance Share Schemes Committee, which focuses on issues for smaller quoted companies.
Nicholas is also highly rated in both Chambers and Legal 500 practitioner surveys.

- Alfred McAlpine on its takeover by Carillion (£0.5 billion scheme of arrangement) as well as takeovers of NSB Retail, Mediasurface and Zenith Hygiene.
- Informa, which has successfully resisted takeover approaches, on takeover-related issues as they affect its employee share schemes, and its recent rights issue and redomicile
- Other quoted clients including Corin, TT Electronics, Hunting and Hampson Industries
- On floats including Snacktime, Conchango and Arawak Energy
- Unquoted companies, particularly in the Lifeciences area, including university spin-outs and companies in this sector such as Syntaxin and Biowisdom (and quoted companies such as Puricore, Antisoma, Corin and Proximagen)
