Martin Mendelssohn is a Partner in CMS Cameron McKenna’s Corporate team and a member of the Consumer Products group. 

Martin specialises in mergers & acquisitions, corporate finance, joint ventures, restructuring and privatisation projects, typically acting for non-UK entities on inward investment projects. He advises a wide range of UK and other European entities (particularly German) and US corporations and has a particular interest in cross-border mergers and the new forms of European companies, such as the SE and SPE. During his career with CMS Cameron McKenna, he has been based in South East Asia, Central and Eastern Europe and Germany.

Martin has wide international experience in advising all types of domestic and international entities. In particular, he has led teams on M&A, joint venture and privatisation projects engaged in the following businesses and sectors: agricultural consultancy, prepay technology, vouchers, retail, consumer insecticides, lifescience and pharmaceuticals, lotteries and gaming, postal and courier services, engineering, defence technology and systems, aviation systems and components, power control systems, LCD technology, research establishments and laboratories in various fields including construction, transport, defence and scientific measurement, international rail services, general travel services, insurance loss adjusters, worldwide publishers, conference organisers, health and leisure clubs, medical services, offshore oil & gas services, fluid handling, mining, management consultancy, food packaging, offshore directional drilling, outside broadcasting, internet services, water filtration and cooling systems, waste management and TV production. 

Martin is the co-author of the Share Purchases in PLC manual. He chaired the firm’s external seminars on the Companies Act 2006. Martin is also a member of the CMS Corporate Management Committee and was the first chairman of the CMS Corporate group. 

Relevant experience includes advising:

  • 30 to 40 European clients on UK-based M&A or inward investment
  • US corporations in a variety of sectors, co-ordinating or leading cross-border M&A and/or reorganisation projects
  • UK national lottery operator, Camelot, since the inception of the UK national lottery in 1994 including the establishment of the EuroMillions game involving eight other national lotteries
  • UK government and successful bidders in a variety of UK privatisations involving construction, transport, scientific measurement, agricultural consultancy, defence technology and advising on a variety of aspects of transition from public to private sector
