John Armstrong is a senior partner in the IT and Telecommunications department of CMS Cameron McKenna with over 20 years of experience in assisting banks and financial services institutions in relation to the development of their businesses.
John is expert in relation to IT, telecommunication, intellectual property, sales, and distribution and data protection law. He also has vast experience in relation to the drafting and negotiation of commercial agreements including licence, joint ventures and partnering agreements.
Relevant experience includes advising:
- Accenture on software and systems development and licensing for the IS and Telecommunications requirements of the UK Government including commercial agreements with BT
- Amazon.co.uk on distribution, sales, advertising, partnering, co promotion and purchasing agreements as well as website terms and conditions, distance selling and electronic commerce law
- Lottery Operator on the development and licensing of the lottery systems and operation of on-line lottery services
- Central Bank of Norway in relation to back office IT development, and licensing
- High Street Bank on IT development, licensing and support agreements, on-line financial product agreements, advice regarding e-commerce and distance selling laws
- International Banking group on development and implementation agreements for back office and front office systems, telecommunication systems and electronic payment systems as well as web-hosting and internet agreements
- Nestle on IT development, licensing and service agreements for international operations
- NSB Retail Solutions on distribution, development and licensing agreements with BT as well as licence and support agreements with major UK retailers
- Rolfe & Nolan Plc on back office software licensing arrangements with financial services companies
- Royal Mail Group plc on the provision of encryption services, drafting terms and conditions for the provision of on-line services and partnering agreements with distribution network and various IT
- UK Government (DTI, Companies Registry, Home Office) on development of new systems, the provision of IS, IT and voice telephony services
