Ian Parker is a partner at CMS Cameron McKenna vos, a solicitor of the Supreme Court of England and Wales, and a member of the Slovak and Czech Chambers of Advocates.
Ian has been working in CEE for CMS Cameron McKenna as an M&A lawyer since 1996. He specializes in the corporate aspects of infrastructure and real estate and construction projects and is a member of our Energy and Technology, Media and Telecoms groups. He has worked on the buy and sell sides of privatisations and other acquisitions and joint venture transactions. In this field his clients have included governments and US and European private equity, venture capital and opportunity funds managed by Advent International, Mid Europa Partners, Deutsche Bank, and others. He has a broad range of experience working not only in Slovakia and the Czech Republic but also elsewhere in Central and Eastern Europe.
His expertise has been recognised by the European Legal 500 and Chambers Global 'The World's leading lawyers'.
His experience includes advising:
- JAVYS, the Slovak nuclear decommissioning agency, on a shareholders’ agreement with ČEZ, the major Czech generator, in respect of a joint venture to build new nuclear capacity in Slovakia
- private equity funds on investments in the renewable sectors in Slovakia and the Czech Republic
- a private equity fund on the acquisition of a combined heat and power project in Slovakia
- the Slovak government on the privatization of the electricity distributor, Západoslovenská energetika
- an investment fund of Deutsche Bank on the corporate aspects of a major real estate investment in Slovakia
- Advent International on its acquisition of CCS Česká společnost pro platební karty a.s (in the Czech Republic and Slovakia) from JP Morgan Asset Management
- advising Advent International on its successful sale of Slovanet, a major Slovak ISP
- one of the consortia bidding in the privatization of the Slovak state-owned rail freight operator;
- Mid Europa Partners on the successful sale, through a competitive tender process, of its shareholding in Karneval, Czech cable TV operator
- one of the consortia bidding to acquire the broadcasting business of Slovak Telekom.
