Ferenc Mátrai

Ferenc Matrai is a partner in the Energy, Projects and Construction group in Budapest.

Ferenc has previously advised numerous international companies on high-profile transactions across the CEE region. He has in-depth experience of practising business law in Hungary, including corporate, real estate and state incentives matters. He has been leading on a number of PPP projects such as the restructuring of the Palace of Arts or the restructuring of the Corvinus University in Hungary.

Relevant experience includes advising: 

• The consortium of Wallis – Strabag – WPR on a PPP Project for the development of a new government quarter in Budapest.  The construction of the new government quarter is expected to cost in the region of HUF 142.5 billion (Euro 560m), the largest state construction project since the Parliament building
• Various major Hungarian developers on:
  - the Palace of Arts PPP project and the financing thereof, draft and negotiate PPP documentation
  - the Corvinus University PPP project and the financing thereof, draft and negotiate PPP documentation
  - prison PPP projects, draft and negotiate PPP documentation
  - Sport Facilities XXI projects, draft and negotiate PPP documentation
  - the Semmelweiss University PPP project and the financing thereof, draft and negotiate PPP documentation. 
  - the real property developments implemented in cooperation with different municipalities 
  - a university PPP project
• Various international clients on several private equity investments in Hungary, drafting and negotiating subscription and shareholder agreements
