Emma Burnett

Emma is an Office Partner in the London Commercial team. Emma’s practice focuses on data protection, outsourcing and technology. She also advises on general commercial and intellectual property matters. The most dominant sector focus in her practice is TMT but her core area specialism (data protection) has relevance for every sector. Emma’s experience includes a client secondment to Royal Mail Group Limited as acting Head of the IP/IT legal team. A significant part of her role was advising on the Royal Mail transformation programme around the investment in business critical systems and technologies.

Selected relevant experience includes:

• Advising Metlife Assurance Limited on various data protection related work including trans-border data flows, advising on binding corporate rules and implications for third party data processors
• Value Retail PLC on terms and conditions, structure of websites, data collection mechanisms and data protection compliance implications of sharing data with third parties
• Royal Bank of Scotland PLC on the outsourcing of its group wide domestic and global courier services
• Lloyds TSB PLC on the licensing, hosting and support arrangements in respect of a European trading platform.
