David Bridge is a Senior Associate in the firm's dispute resolution team.  He has broad experience of handling large and complex claims, domestic and international, involving litigation, arbitration and all forms of ADR.  He has a particular focus on international/cross-border disputes, often involving claims for breach of contract, misrepresentation, warranty/indemnity claims and shareholder/investor disputes.

David advises clients across a range of industry sectors, in particular financial services (including banks and fund managers), in relation to contractual rights and litigation risk issues.  He was noted as "one to watch" in the Global Arbitration Review for arbitration.

David is a member of the LCIA Young International Arbitration Group, International Centre for Dispute Resolution, and the ICC Young Arbitrators Forum.

Relevant experience includes advising:

  • A leading fund manager - defending institutional investor claims of £400 million for breach of mandate, misrepresentation and negligent misstatement in relation to the marketing and management of a private equity fund.
  • A European commercial bank - successfully defending LCIA arbitration proceedings arising out of a disputed investor option to acquire shares in a Serbian commercial bank prior to its merger.
  • A Russian state-owned property developer - successful settlement of a substantial joint venture shareholder dispute concerning the building of a luxury hotel in Moscow, to be determined by LCIA arbitration. In conjunction with CMS Moscow, he assisted the client in defending various claims for breach of contract, fiduciary duty, and fraud (with a total value of approximately $1 billion) in addition to resisting cross-border injunctive relief in Cyprus and dealing with issues of enforcement in the British Virgin Islands.
  • A Global aerospace supplier - successfully defending multi-million US dollar claims in an ICC arbitration concerning the design and manufacture of the largest military transport aircraft to be produced.
  • A Cypriot retail developer - pursuing claims against a co-investor in a retail project in Ukraine for non-payment of consideration, following the co-investor's withdrawal from the project due to a failure to secure a long-term senior debt facility. Seeking injunctive relief in Cyprus to protect the client against any related enforcement action concerning shares pledged to the co-investor.
  • Automotive manufacturer - acting for a multi-national US car manufacturer resisting UNCITRAL arbitration proceedings concerning a $50 million claim arising out of the termination of an agreement with its distributor for the Middle-East region.
  • A fund manager - advice in relation to potential liabilities as operator and manager of an airport investment property fund, as a result of the fund's increasing loan to value following the collapse of the UK property market.
  • A Ukrainian commercial bank- advising various noteholders in respect of their trustee's enforcement of security over shares held in a Ukrainian bank, following the downgrading of the bank's senior unsecured credit rating (an event of default) due to the economic crisis.  Further advice in respect of obtaining injunctive relief in Cyprus preventing the disposal of the secured shares.
