Our construction team are recognised market leaders. Our specialists operate across Europe, the Middle East and beyond. Our experience as one of the two longest standing construction law practices underpins our strategic advice and enables us to field the right team tailored to each job.
We work for governments and other public bodies, developers, contractors, sub-contractors, professionals, banks and financial institutions on a wide variety of different projects. This means we understand the issues from all perspectives and can identify solutions quickly. Operating within a full service law firm, we can also introduce specialists from related areas and make sure you get the highest level of service across the firm. For example, we work regularly with our specialists in construction insurance, environmental law, planning, public procurement, health and safety, PFI/PPP and secondary markets.
Our excellent technical knowledge and experience means that we analyse and assess the relative strengths of both your and other parties’ positions as early as possible and advise on viable solutions (whether that be on the terms of the contract or in the resolution of disputes). We work in small teams to avoid duplication of effort and aim to provide the same team each time we work together. Through our Law-Now service we report the latest legal developments - as they happen - which we help shape through our involvement with key industry bodies. (A selection of our most recent Law-Nows can be found to the right of this page) and subscribers include in-house counsel, judges, arbitrators, industry press and other law firms.
You benefit from our in-depth knowledge of market practice. We regularly work with JCT, NEC, ICE, FIDIC and similar contracts. We are innovators in procurement techniques and have insight into the standard forms, some of which we helped draft. Because of all this we are well placed to ensure the correct method of procurement is selected and agreement is reached on construction contracts quickly, on appropriate terms and without you being exposed to unnecessary risk.
We have considerable experience in helping clients avoid disputes during projects and know that timely commercial advice assists the early resolution of claims. Our on-call service, for example, ensures that claims are not prejudiced by non-compliance with notice requirements. When disputes do arise we aim to resolve them swiftly and without undue technicality whilst at the same time keeping you informed of all the legal options.
