City Law firm launches free online Regulatory Service

Date: 16/09/2010
Paul Edmondson
In the last two years financial regulators at national, EU and international level have generated hundreds of reviews, guidelines, consultations, proposals and rules. Without exaggeration, hundreds of pages of regulatory material land on our desks every day.

Riding to the rescue, City law firm CMS Cameron McKenna has launched RegZone - a free-to-view service for anyone interested in the way financial institutions are regulated. The quantity and pace of regulatory reforms make it very difficult for individuals or regulated firms to properly monitor and assess the impact of the reform agenda. The RegZone at www.law-now.com/regzone provides a comprehensive consideration of regulatory developments.

RegZone can be accessed without password registration and covers all financial sectors, both retail and wholesale markets. The site is relevant to banks, the insurance industry, fund and wealth managers, broker-dealers, building societies, IFAs and consumer finance institutions.

For convenience of use, the site divides the regulatory landscape by topic and by sector. In each of these areas we take a pyramid approach: high-level charts and diagrams provide an immediate overview, in-depth analysis is provided in articles and reports written by our team of experts. Daily news monitoring provides a full chronological narrative of developments and covers the publications and speeches of over 30 different organisations. The site includes hyperlinks to each featured publication and a comprehensive enforcement library covering FSA (and FSMT) decisions.

The RegZone timeline is a vital tool for anyone needing to keep track of the key dates for regulatory developments. Continually updated, the timeline shows upcoming implementation dates, announcements, publications and consultation periods - colour coded to show their international, EU or domestic origin. Leading online compliance site, Complinet.com, offers CMS Cameron McKenna’s RegZone timeline as part of their paid-for service for financial institutions.

RegZone is a living resource and will be updated and developed as the reform process moves forward. The current version includes coverage of recent developments such as the Coalition’s plans for reform of the financial regulatory system, the EU’s new regulatory authorities, the Basel Committee agreements on capital and liquidity, and FSA’s remuneration Code.

From September 2010, subscribers to CMS Cameron McKenna’s Law-now service will receive a monthly ‘RegZone Online Update’. This brings you the latest reports on hot topics on the reform agenda and a full list of RegZone materials updated to reflect recent developments.
