Until recently, Charles Rosenmeyer was the European head of the CMS Hotels and Leisure Group and was the London partner co-ordinating the firm’s European Real Estate Practice. He has extensive experience in property development and investment and has spent much of his time on cross border transactions.
Charles advises on all aspects of hotels and real estate - investment, development, letting, management, sales and insolvencies. He has been involved in a substantial number of high value transactions involving office buildings, retail, hotels, shopping centres, golf courses, cinemas and other leisure developments and landfill and quarry schemes. He has also dealt with a large number of portfolio sales and purchases and transactions involving joint venture structuring.
Prior to his retirement as a partner on 30 April 2009, Charles was a partner for over 35 years, and spent much time in relation to the development, purchase, sale, funding and management of city-centre schemes and also hotels in the UK and abroad.
Publications, lectures and other professional activities: Co-author of the chapter on joint ventures in Tolley's Insolvency Law, past Blundell Memorial Lecturer, regular speaker and author of articles, including Law-Now.
Charles played a central role in developing know-how and client service delivery standards for CMS cross-border real estate work. He has been instrumental in the preparation of the CMS Guide to Real Estate Transaction Costs in Europe, the CMS Guide to European Occupational Investment Leases, the CMS Guide: “20 Questions for European Real Estate Investors”, and the CMS Guide to Hotel specific laws in Europe and China. He has also developed a standard European “toolkit” lease for use (with appropriate adaptation) in all European countries and in cross border transactions.
As from 1 May 2009, Charles changed his surname to from 'Romney', adopting his original family name.

- The original development consortium in negotiating and documenting the arrangements at London Underground for the construction of the White City Shopping Centre development over railway land

- AMC Entertainment Inc on development of cinemas in the UK and advice on structuring leases and guarantees in Scandinavia
- A large UK bank on restructuring of hotel group in the UK following insolvency
