CMS Cameron McKenna is delighted to announce the appointment of two new partners in the Intellectual Property team - Tom Scourfield and lateral hire, Jeremy Morton. The appointments will strengthen the Intellectual Property practice and further develop the firm’s Technology, Media and Telecoms (TMT) sector offering.

Nick Beckett, Head of Intellectual Property comments:

"We are very pleased to be expanding our Intellectual Property team this year with the addition of two new partners. Tom Scourfield has been with the firm for seven years and has been promoted from his position as a highly valued associate within the team.

“Jeremy Morton brings a wealth of expertise to the firm’s TMT sector. His client list provides synergy with ours including a portfolio of contacts in the Far East. I am delighted with the appointments, which will further enhance our leading team.”

Jeremy comments, “I was attracted by the reputation of CMS' IP and TMT practices and the scale of its international network, which will in particular enhance my ability to service large international clients on a multi-jurisdictional basis"

Tom Scourfield joined CMS in an IP focused role with experience of both IP litigation and transactional work. He plays a key role in the CRD team and is the relationship manager associate for many of the team's most important clients including Nestlé, Royal Mail and Amazon.

Jeremy Morton joins the firm from Fasken Martineau where he has been since 2008 and was previously a partner at Simmons & Simmons for ten years. He does both contentious and non-contentious intellectual property with an emphasis on dispute resolution including patents, copyright, trade marks and confidentiality, as well as related areas such as data protection law. He has advised clients in various industries, including electronics, telecoms, software, banking, life sciences, toys, clothing, food and defence and now has a significant focus on the TMT sector.

Following these appointments, the firm’s Intellectual Property team in London now comprises 8 partners. Throughout 2010, CMS Cameron McKenna’s IP team has continued to handle high profile work for major global clients, having recently been appointed as one of the leading firms providing IP advice to Colgate-Palmolive in Europe.
