Balázs Kökény

Balázs Kökény is a Hungarian qualified lawyer specialising in commercial law, technology, media and telecoms and public procurement.

Balázs has in-depth experience in advising domestic and international clients in all fields of commercial law. Before joining CMS Budapest he worked as the head of legal department of Siemens National Co. for several years and he has been involved in many M&A transactions and joint ventures.

Relevant experience includes advising: 

• Nokia-Siemens Networks on the implementation of a nationwide GSM-R telecommunication system for the Hungarian railways, deal value app. EUR 240 million
• FHB Bank on the implementation of a complex mobile payment project first of this kind on the Hungarian market involving mobile phone payment on various selling points e.g. shops, gas stations etc. FHB Bank is a top retail mortgage bank in Hungary and this deal is one of the largest transactions they entered into and the first of this kind in the financial services sector
• A major solutions provider on the implementation of NBPP, a complex consultancy agreement with GE Money Bank, a substantial deal in the financial services sector. Advised during the implementation of an integrated resource management planning system for MVM Group, the Hungarian electricity provider. The project is one of the major investment projects in the energy sector
• Samsung Electronics on a dispute against Artisjus (Hungarian Bureau for the Protection of Authors’ Rights) regarding copyright levy issue relating to mobile phones
• Siemens on support drafting and negotiating various telecommunication contracts
