Dr Andrzej Błach co-ordinates the Energy, Projects & Construction practice for CMS Cameron McKenna in Central and Eastern Europe.
Andrzej is a member of the New York Bar and a licensed Polish legal adviser, and has practised in the United States and Poland with a focus on energy matters and cross-boarder transactions occurring in central Europe.
Andrzej gained substantial expertise in the area of privatisation, while working on several transactions in the energy and other industry sectors. Dr Błach specialises in energy and infrastructure projects. Since 1995, he has been involved in the majority of the independent power projects undertaken in Poland by private investors. He led the team of lawyers working on the first coal-fired independent power project in Poland (Elcho), as well as the successful gas-fired 'brownfield' project in Zielona Góra. He worked on several other gas- fired power projects, gaining substantial expertise in particular in the field of long term fuel supply agreements.
Andrzej coordinated the legal work for Grupa Lotos SA (the second-largest oil company in Poland), which recently secured the financing for its EUR2 billion expansion.
He has spoken at international conferences and seminars and published articles on the subject of the Polish energy sector. He divides his time between Warsaw and London, and for many years he lectured at the Warsaw University Law School.
