Andrew Walker is a founding partner of the Real Estate Disputes team and has been ranked in the Legal 500 and Chambers directories for years.

Andrew has extensive experience in providing comprehensive advice to a broad range of clients (including large institutional investors, charities, public bodies, developers and significant corporate occupiers of real estate) on how to 'avoid, manage and resolve' real estate disputes. Priorities for clients in the current real estate market, and poor economic conditions, have included how best to maximise the value of their portfolios or seeking to avoid, or at least minimise, their financial exposure.

Andrew also regularly gives tailored seminars to clients and others on issues particularly relevant to their real estate interests.

Andrews is a member of the Property Litigation Association and City Property Association.

Relevant experience includes advising:

  • Landlords and tenants on Break Clauses and their validity, to challenge them when served (for landlords), to exercise them (for tenants) and to ensure compliance with any pre-conditions
  • On development-related issues including rights of first refusal (Landlord and Tenant Act 1987), site clearance, rights of light and overage disputes
  • On Rent Reviews
  • On the enforcement, release and modification of restrictive covenants
  • On Enfranchisement and lease extension claims, nuisance, derogation from grant and quiet enjoyment disputes
  • On enforcement and interpretation of lease covenants and insolvency scenarios, including the use of remedies of forfeiture, damages, distraint and injunctive relief
  • On renewal of commercial property leases including both 'opposed' and 'unopposed' renewals
  • On trespass claims including the removal of protesters and other unlawful occupiers
